Development of the Snipes Tract should not be used to solve perceived Macclesfield and other sports field issues.
What is Snipes Tract?
Snipes Tract is a wooded field bounded by Dolington and Quarry Roads (across from Quarry Hill Elementary School).
What do we want?
- A nature preserve with walking trails, pavilions, picnic areas, and passive recreation which can be enjoyed by all LMT residents.
- Protect native trees, plants, animals and birds.
How you can help?
- The township appears to be planning the removal of most of the trees and the construction of multiple sports fields, buildings, parking lots, and 80′ lights.
- We need community input – The township needs to conduct a valid needs assessment, with a survey document mailed to each resident of Lower Makefield Township. LMT’s current plans are predicated on an open access Web survey that was not restricted to LMT residents only. Many township residents were not aware of the survey and did not have the opportunity to provide input.
- The township must restart the land development process from the beginning in order for it to be a legitimate process.
- “Play for All” is a misnomer. Only sports organizations will use the property. LMT residents would pay taxes to support a $5-10 million sports complex (part of “Play for All” plan approved by the LMT Board of Supervisors) without any benefits to most LMT residents.

- Send an email to info@preservesnipes.org to receive updates to township meetings so you can attend and voice your concerns to the Board of Supervisors, Zoning and Planning meetings where decisions will be made. THIS IS NOT A DONE DEAL!
